Gilbert Holzgang: Otto Ralfs, Käte Ralfs, Junge Kunst

Otto Ralfs, Käte Ralfs, Young Art is the title of author Gilbert Holzgang´s latest publication. (320 pages including 220 reproductions). The volume recollects in detail how the Ralfs couple supported artists of the Bauhaus period and, in general, the art of the nineteen-fifties. Holzgang also shows the extend to which modern art was rejected during the Nazi period and, subsequently, sums up the discussion of abstract art in the German post-war years. Last but not least, Otto Ralfs, Käte Ralfs, Young Art reflects on growing present-day rejections of contemporary art.

Galka Scheyer supported Otto Ralfs` first exhibitions in Braunschweig and later helped him to sell pictures from his marvellous collection in the United States.

The generously illustrated book is published by Michael Imhofen Verlag (ISBN 978-3-7319-1604-8).
